A QUICK WEEKEND AWAY // MELBOURNE

Sometimes you just need to call time out on life and get away from everyone and everything. Cue a sneaky little weekend escape to Melbourne. Food, coffee, shopping - the top 3 things on my list (not necessarily in sequential order).

First, a quick pit stop at the Grand Hyatt to drop off the 5x extra jackets and knits required in the supposed case of a blizzard, all expertly packed in my American Tourister travel companion case.
It was time to begin checking off my mental 'must-do' list, starting with chowing down on the best bagels in Melbourne: Manchester Press, whilst also sneaking in a quick visit to the Bassike store (on the same street). After expertly loosening the top button of my jeans and walking for ~ 1 minute just down the street, Brother Baba Budan awaited with very quirky interior (chairs hanging of ceilings) and speciality coffee. There was no denying that $ were going to be spent shopping with The Emporium offering up H&M, Muji, Acne and Topshop - needless to say countless hours were spent with terribly sore feet and an arm full of bags as a result.

Day two began with lazing in bed with the most delicious spread of room service with waffles, fruits, yoghurt, fresh juices, pastries and so much more. Re-energised and re-focused, it was time to begin the hunt for hugely publicised Doughboys donuts (which did not disappoint). It was perfectly married to a Market Lane coffee (posing as half cafe/ half interior inspo). Satisfactorily full and caffeinated, sight seeing included walking to the Yarra river, tram hopping and walking Collins Street ('Paris end' of Melbourne).

There was no better way to farewell Melbourne than eating hotcakes at Top Paddock, arguably the best pancakes that have touched my lips.

Catch you next time Melbourne (I promise not to be so food crazy next time..hmm maybe).
